Manchester United's hopes of offloading Alejandro Garnacho this summer appear to be fading, as potential suitors pursue alternative targets. The 21-year-old winger has been told by head coach Ruben Amorim that he must leave Old Trafford, following a Europa League final snub and subsequent reaction that led to his exclusion from pre-season training.
Garnacho is one of five players, alongside Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia, who have been instructed not to return for pre-season as the club seeks to move them on. His sale represents pure profit for United, but interest in the Argentine has not translated into formal offers.
Napoli, who saw a £40m bid rejected in January, have now agreed a £24m deal for PSV Eindhoven's Noa Lang, effectively ending their pursuit of Garnacho. Chelsea have turned their attention to Borussia Dortmund's Jamie Gittens and Brighton's Joao Pedro, while Juventus favour Sancho and have already secured Jonathan David.
Atletico Madrid and other clubs have been linked, but no concrete bids have materialised. United's ability to command a high fee for Garnacho, who does not command the same wages as Rashford, is becoming increasingly difficult as the market moves on.
Garnacho's future remains uncertain, with the club now facing a challenge to find a buyer willing to meet their valuation before the transfer window closes.
