Man Utd left-back loan plan and Tosin offer before deadline

Manchester United are exploring a temporary solution at left-back as the transfer deadline approaches, while Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo has reportedly been offered to the club.

After spending roughly £150 million revamping their midfield with the signings of Andrey Santos from Chelsea, Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Carlos Baleba from Brighton, United are still looking to plug gaps in defence before the window closes.

Left-back loan move considered

Adding a left-sided defender has become a priority, with Luke Shaw entering the final year of his contract and manager Michael Carrick viewing Patrick Dorgu more as a winger than a full-back.

With moves for preferred targets Lewis Hall and Alejandro Balde appearing off the table, United's options are limited. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says the club are considering a loan deal for a left-back, similar to their decision to bring in Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham in 2023.

"I will not be surprised if they [United] end up with a solution for a player who can be almost a guarantee, so maybe not a superstar name like Balde, because they considered Balde... but the deal is too expensive," he said on his YouTube show. "But just as a comparison, you remember when United signed Sergio Reguilon? [It will be] something similar. That kind of player, an experienced left-back who can provide competition and also an international profile."

Tosin offered to United

According to talkSPORT, United have been offered the chance to sign Tosin Adarabioyo. The 28-year-old appears set to leave Stamford Bridge after being omitted from Chelsea's 3-2 win over Fulham and having his No. 4 shirt handed to summer signing Valentin Barco.

United are keen to add another centre-back before the window closes, providing cover for Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Leny Yoro. The need has been heightened by injuries to Yoro, Martinez and De Ligt.

Tosin could be available for around £20m. The report adds that United also retain an interest in his Chelsea team-mate Josh Acheampong, but the youngster is considered 'untouchable' and Chelsea will not entertain a sale.

Tosin spent 17 years on Manchester City's books, joining the academy in 2003 before making his first-team debut in 2016. He made only eight appearances for City before leaving for Fulham in 2020, where he established himself as a regular Premier League defender.
