Man Utd: Four transfers possible before deadline including £30m Balde deal
Man Utd four transfers before deadline including £30m Balde deal

Manchester United are racing to complete their summer transfer business before Tuesday's deadline, with four deals still possible for Michael Carrick's side.

A 5-2 victory over Ipswich on Sunday restored a positive mood to Old Trafford, after suffering defeat to Hull on the opening day of the season, but more reinforcements would surely be welcomed by the head coach.

An overhaul to the midfield took place following Casemiro's exit, with Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba all arriving to help Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo. While the club are also trying to strengthen at left-back, with defensive concerns arising already against two promoted teams.

Alejandro Balde

While United originally pursued Newcastle's Lewis Hall, Barcelona full-back Alejandro Balde has emerged as an alternative. The 22-year-old is reportedly priced at approximately £30million by the Catalan club, while United would favour a loan arrangement.

However, the necessity for a top-class deputy and potential long-term replacement for Shaw, who has previously struggled with injuries, could prompt United to alter their position late in the transfer window. Meanwhile, the Spanish champions may seize the chance to offload the full-back.

Balde was named on Barcelona's bench on Thursday, having previously been dropped from Hansi Flick's squad.

Joshua Zirkzee

Joshua Zirkzee has been touted for a departure from United throughout the summer and looks set to finally complete his exit before the deadline. The forward has failed to hit his stride or nail down a regular starting berth since joining from Bologna, but could be poised to breathe new life into his career in Serie A.

The Netherlands international has attracted attention from numerous clubs, though Fiorentina are leading the race for his signature. The Italian outfit are anticipated to clinch a loan deal, with an obligation to buy, allowing the forward to embark on a fresh chapter in his career.

Igor Matanovic

Zirkzee's imminent exit would open up a vacancy in United's squad for an additional forward to share the burden with Sesko. Freiburg striker Igor Matanovic has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford and would hand United boss Carrick a new attacking option.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport has claimed that Matanovic is "in the sights" of United after netting 15 goals for Freiburg last season.

The 23-year-old is also said to have caught the eye of Tottenham and Fiorentina, but United may opt to secure the Croatia international, who would prove a useful squad option in attack.

Harry Amass

The acquisition of Balde at left-back might equally prompt Harry Amass to depart United on loan. The 19-year-old caught the eye during pre-season, though a loan spell could further aid the academy talent's progression, as Carrick recently suggested.

When discussing Amass' next steps, the United boss said: "It comes to this stage [of the window], and there's always a little bit where, and this is not just Harry by the way, this is just the stage of the window and putting squads together and dynamics of changes, and younger players and loans and not loans, and all sorts of different scenarios.

"I think we always try to do the best for each individual player, as well as keeping the group strong. I've been really pleased with Harry. I think he had a really good season that didn't finish so good with the injury, but it's been great to have him around pre-season. He's done really well. So, let's see what happens. But he played really well the other night."
