Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of signing Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba after submitting an initial bid of £60 million plus £5 million in add-ons.
United's midfield pursuit
Baleba has been on United's radar for over a year, having impressed during his three-season spell at the Amex Stadium. The Red Devils have already strengthened in midfield this window with the signings of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa.
According to The Athletic's David Ornstein, United are fast closing in on an agreement for Baleba to become their third central midfield addition of the window, following Casemiro's departure.
Brighton's stance
Brighton are reluctant to sell at that price as things stand, but the report states that discussions remain amicable, with all parties eager to find a resolution. The 22-year-old Cameroon international has been a key figure for the Seagulls.
The deal, if completed, would see Baleba join a growing list of new arrivals at Old Trafford as United look to rebuild their squad.
