Aston Villa are looking to strengthen their squad after a disappointing opening Premier League weekend. Milan winger Rafael Leão, who has previously shown interest in a move to England, is seen as a potential solution to Unai Emery's attacking issues, with Nicolas Jackson and Jean-Philippe Mateta also mentioned as alternatives.
Villa's Midfield and Defensive Targets
Villa are also focusing on midfield and defence. Rangers' Nicolas Raskin is a target to add depth in midfield, an area that appeared thin during the heavy defeat to Brighton. Club Brugge centre-back Joel Ordóñez is reportedly close to joining after Southampton rejected approaches for Taylor Harwood-Bellis.
Chelsea's Midfield Search and City's Interest
Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso has not ruled out letting Enzo Fernández leave, and Manchester City are reportedly monitoring the situation. Meanwhile, Chelsea have had three bids for Bournemouth's Alex Scott rejected this summer and may turn to Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga as an alternative.
Manchester City have joined Tottenham in showing interest in Liverpool's Cody Gakpo, but the Dutch forward is unlikely to move without incoming signings at Anfield. Liverpool are struggling to progress on a deal for Bradley Barcola but have been linked with Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara.
Championship and European Moves
Sheffield United, after two goalless draws, are looking to strengthen central defence and are interested in free agent Adam Webster, who left Brighton. Wrexham are targeting Lyon's Pavel Sulc, valued at around £10m, and also covet Angers left-back Jacques Ekomié, though West Ham may compete for his signature. West Ham are also preparing for Brentford's potential move for El Hadji Malick Diouf.
Dele Alli could return to Serie A, with Monza reportedly interested in the 30-year-old midfielder, who has been training with West Ham this summer. Alli last played in March 2025, when he was sent off on his only appearance for Como.
