Liverpool transfer update: Barcola decision, Minteh terms agreed

Liverpool have received a significant update on their pursuit of PSG winger Bradley Barcola, while a move for Brighton's Yankuba Minteh is reportedly progressing after personal terms were agreed.

With the transfer window set to close in just over a week, Liverpool are in a frantic push to add fresh faces to their ranks. So far this summer, Anfield has welcomed just three new signings: Spanish winger Victor Munoz, Barcelona loanee Ronald Araujo and French defender Jeremy Jaquet.

The departure of Curtis Jones last week appears to have acted as a catalyst, with the club now turning their focus squarely to recruitment. Chief among their targets is PSG winger Bradley Barcola, a player the Reds have tracked throughout the summer and one they are hopeful of landing before the September 1 deadline.

Barcola decision made

In a stern message regarding his future, Barcola has been left out of Luis Enrique's PSG squad for two recent fixtures as his status at the club continues to hang in the balance.

According to RMC Sport, PSG have decided Barcola, along with Ibrahim Mbaye, who has also been linked with Liverpool this summer, will play no part in the club's matches until their respective futures are resolved.

Both players were absent from PSG's squad for their French Super Cup defeat to Lens last weekend, as well as the club's Ligue 1 curtain-raiser at Rennes on Sunday evening.

Liverpool have been pursuing the French international Barcola for much of the summer, with PSG reportedly seeking in excess of £140million for the player. The Reds, however, are unwilling to meet that valuation.

Barcola is also understood to be attracted to the prospect of joining Iraola's side. While PSG's asking price remains an obstacle, it has recently been suggested in the French media that a bid between £111m and £128m could be sufficient to finally secure the French international's move to Anfield.

Personal terms 'agreed'

Gambian international Minteh has reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Liverpool following the Reds' two unsuccessful bids for the winger. The Reds saw an initial £50m offer for the Brighton winger knocked back last week.

Despite raising that figure by £10m, a second bid was also rejected. Nevertheless, the Reds reportedly remain committed to completing a deal before the transfer deadline expires with Brighton said to want in excess of £70m for the star.

Fabrizio Romano claims that, while "Bradley Barcola is the priority," Minteh "has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool." He added that the player "dreams" of a switch to Anfield and is now awaiting Brighton and Liverpool to settle on a fee for the transfer.
