Marc Guéhi is reportedly furious with Crystal Palace after the club pulled the plug on his £35 million transfer to Liverpool at the last minute. The deal collapsed after manager Oliver Glasner threatened to resign if the England defender was sold, according to sources.
Palace chairman Steve Parish had reluctantly accepted Liverpool's offer on deadline day, despite Glasner's insistence that Guéhi should not be sold due to a lack of time to find a replacement. Guéhi had even completed the first part of his medical and a deal sheet was submitted before the 7pm deadline.
However, Parish changed his mind after Glasner, whose contract expires next summer, said he would walk out if the transfer went through. Guéhi is believed to be bitterly disappointed, with the deal so advanced that Palace had prepared a farewell video, which was leaked online, and a private jet was arranged to take him to Merseyside.
Guéhi, who continued to play for Palace during the speculation, is now considering whether to remain as captain. Other squad members are also reportedly upset that he was denied the move. Liverpool may attempt to sign him again in January, but Guéhi could also sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club, with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus expressing interest.
