Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has insisted he can fulfil all his football ambitions at St James' Park, dismissing speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool or Arsenal. Speaking ahead of the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool, the Swedish international made clear his commitment to the Magpies.
Isak, who joined Newcastle in 2022, stated that talks about a contract extension will take place at the end of the season, though his current deal runs until 2028. 'That's why I came here,' he said when asked if he could achieve his best career moments at Newcastle. 'I am happy here and we are competing for titles, which is what you want as a football player.'
The 24-year-old forward also downplayed injury concerns, describing reports of a problem as 'dramatic'. 'I have not been injured, I have just had a bit of tiredness,' he explained. 'I feel good and I am really excited for the game.'
With Newcastle aiming to end a 70-year domestic trophy drought, Isak emphasised the importance of staying focused. 'I wish it wasn't that way. It means a lot that we have the chance to change that,' he said. 'Personally, I just feel focused and quite relaxed. I am trying to create my own history.'
