Much of Liverpool's summer window centred on the British record £125m signing of Alexander Isak from Newcastle. However, the Swedish striker has been limited to six league starts due to fitness issues and a serious injury in December. Meanwhile, Ekitike, signed for £79m, has impressed with 15 goals in 32 games. Slot faces a dilemma over playing both strikers together, a tactic used only in Champions League matches. Isak may have to accept a backup role to Ekitike when he returns from injury.
Mohamed Salah has had an eventful season, struggling for form with nine goal contributions in 16 games. He was dropped to the bench after a poor run and had an outburst following a draw with Leeds. With his contract entering its final year and links to the Saudi Pro League, Liverpool may need to plan for life without the Egyptian.
