Liverpool are reportedly considering a £188m double raid on Paris Saint-Germain for wingers Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, as the club looks to step up their transfer activity before the window closes on September 1.
The Reds have had a quiet summer so far, with only Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet arriving, while Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Ibrahima Konate have all departed.
Double swoop on PSG
According to reports, Liverpool are targeting Barcola, a French international, and Mbaye, a Senegal international who joined PSG's academy in 2018. Mbaye has scored eight goals and provided 13 assists in 36 games for PSG, primarily playing on the right wing.
PSG are said to value Mbaye at around £43m, while Barcola could cost around £145m, although Liverpool are reportedly hoping to pay less. A combined deal would total £188m.
Talks are expected to begin soon for Barcola, who has been a long-standing target for the Reds.
Carragher's warning
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has expressed concerns about the club's transfer business, ruling them out of the Premier League title race this season.
“Where we are right now, and there is still a month to go transfer-wise, I can only see Arsenal or Man City (winning the league),” Carragher said on The Football Ramble.
“I think Liverpool need two defenders and a top right winger to be in the 'chat' or in the chase. They haven't replaced Mo Salah.”
Carragher also questioned the pursuit of Barcola, noting the club already has several left-wing options but no natural right winger. He added that he trusts the club's decision-makers, saying, “There must be something up their sleeve.”
