Kerolin joined Barcelona from Manchester City in a deal worth an initial £1m, but her failure to report for pre-season training has left a sour taste at the WSL champions.
The Brazil forward's transfer to Barcelona was announced on Tuesday, but as of Thursday afternoon, Manchester City had not published any reference to the move or commented on it.
Pre-season absence
Kerolin did not report for pre-season training with Manchester City in late July, before her transfer was agreed. It is understood that several staff and players were disappointed by what they perceived as efforts to force a move to Barcelona.
Her absence from pre-season fitness testing came as a surprise, as she had previously been on great terms with the squad. She did not say goodbye in person to her colleagues, who were stunned by her departure.
Record transfer fee
The deal is worth an initial €1.2m (£1m), the largest transfer fee ever received by a WSL club. With add-ons, it could rise to approximately £1.25m, though this has not been officially confirmed. It is one of the largest fees in global women's football history.
Kerolin helped Manchester City win their first WSL title in a decade last season and also lifted the Women's FA Cup. City have no objections to the transfer in principle, but the team were taken aback by her absence.

City and Barcelona will meet in a friendly at the Joie Stadium on 15 August, as both clubs continue their pre-season preparations.
