Brennan Johnson has said the belief of David Moyes was crucial to his decision to join Everton from Crystal Palace. The new Blues winger was confirmed as the club's latest signing on Tuesday morning as part of a deal that has seen Dwight McNeil move in the opposite direction.
Difficult spell at Selhurst Park
The move comes after a difficult six months for Johnson at Selhurst Park after a £35m move from Tottenham Hotspur in January. The 25-year-old did not score in 18 Premier League appearances.
His league form before that was impressive, however, with the Wales international performing well for both Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur. He scored the winning goal in the 2025 Europa League final for Spurs.
Confidence and belief
For Johnson, the aim is to find the confidence that saw him net 18 times and create 16 goals in 81 league appearances at Tottenham - giving him a goal involvement in just over every two games.
He said: "There were a lot of reasons why I was so keen to join – the manager, the players, the direction the team is going in. You can see this is a club that wants to go in the right direction, and I'm a player who wants to go in that direction, too, so it feels like a really good match."

Johnson is Everton's fifth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Merlin Rohl, Tyrique George, Hayden Hackney and Christian Norgaard.
