Gabriel Jesus Reveals Palmeiras Return Plan After Arsenal Contract Ends
Jesus Plans Palmeiras Return After Arsenal Career

Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has made a significant revelation about his long-term future, confirming his intention to return to his boyhood club Palmeiras once his time in North London concludes.

Recovery and Current Situation at Arsenal

The 28-year-old Brazilian striker has yet to feature for the Premier League table-toppers this season as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury. Jesus suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in January during a match against Manchester United, keeping him sidelined for approximately nine months.

During his absence, summer signing Viktor Gyokeres has been leading Arsenal's attacking line. With Jesus's contract at the Emirates Stadium set to expire in 2027, speculation about his future has intensified in recent weeks.

Clear Intentions for Brazilian Return

Amid the ongoing transfer rumours, Jesus has now openly discussed his ultimate career plans. 'I've never had contact with another club, and my desire, as I say, is to return to Palmeiras,' the striker stated emphatically.

He further clarified that Palmeiras shares his ambition for a future reunion, but stressed that any return would only happen at the appropriate time. 'When I feel it's time to return to Palmeiras, I'll decide that with Arsenal,' Jesus explained, while also criticising journalists for spreading unfounded speculation about his immediate future.

Arsenal Commitment and Manager Support

Despite his long-term aspirations, Jesus has repeatedly emphasised his current commitment to Arsenal. 'I have a contract until 2027, and if it's not renewed by then, I'll be at the club at least until 2027,' he told ESPN last month.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has also reinforced Jesus's importance to the squad. The Spanish coach described him as 'very unpredictable, full of energy, super competitive' and expressed excitement about his eventual return to full fitness.

Arteta added: 'The level of hunger and desire that he's going to bring to the team is going to be amazing. I think he's going to add something extra to the team that we don't have.'

Jesus began his professional career at Palmeiras, spending two impressive seasons in their senior team after progressing through their academy. His performances attracted Manchester City, where he won four Premier League titles during five years in Manchester before joining Arsenal in 2022.

Unfortunately, his time in North London has been hampered by persistent injury problems. The Brazilian has managed only 96 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 26 goals, since his arrival two years ago.
