Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic has cast doubt on the club making an improved bid for Swansea City striker Zan Vipotnik after their initial offer was rejected.
The Tigers saw an offer, understood to be in excess of £10m, batted away by the Swans earlier this week. Swansea are believed to be holding firm on their valuation of the 24-year-old, which is currently around £20m.
Vipotnik's impressive season
Vipotnik was the top scorer in the Championship last season, netting 25 goals for the Swans in all competitions. He also scored three times for his country.
The Slovenian's exploits have attracted attention in this transfer window, with West Ham United monitoring the situation since January and Portuguese giants Benfica holding initial discussions. French side Strasbourg have also shown interest, but it is Hull, recently promoted to the Premier League, that have made a formal bid.
Jakirovic's response
Jakirovic briefly worked with Vipotnik at Slovenian side Maribor before his departure in 2020. Having seen the initial offer knocked back, he suggested a second approach is unlikely.
"Yes but [it was] not enough and that's it," he told BBC Radio Humberside. "Two days ago we send a bid and they reject it."
When asked about the prospect of a second bid, he added: "I don't know. I think no."
