Cody Gakpo is reportedly prepared to stay at Liverpool this summer if a move to Manchester City is not completed before the transfer window closes. The Dutch forward has been linked with a switch to the Manchester club, with Liverpool said to value Gakpo at around £85million.
Gakpo open to staying at Anfield
Reports over the weekend suggested Gakpo had chosen to join City, with talks over personal terms reportedly agreed between the two parties. However, the player would be happy to perform a U-turn and remain at Anfield if City and Liverpool cannot reach a financial agreement.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool would be content for Gakpo to stay at the club if they are unable to source a replacement before Tuesday's deadline.
Liverpool's alternative plans
Liverpool have been pushing forward with plans to sign Ismaila Sarr from Crystal Palace, having reportedly stepped back from a move for Yankuba Minteh following two rejected bids.
The transfer window is set to close on Tuesday, leaving limited time for any deal to be finalised.
