Five strikers Man United can sign as Sesko plan hatched

Manchester United could turn their attention to reinforcing their striking options in the transfer window. While midfield additions have been the priority, manager Michael Carrick is keen to add another striker to share the workload with Benjamin Sesko. Joshua Zirkzee's potential departure may necessitate a new forward.

Victor Osimhen

The Nigerian international has been consistently linked with United. Reports earlier this summer suggested the club had made him a priority target. The 27-year-old currently plays for Galatasaray, who made his loan permanent last summer for £64.8 million. He scored 22 goals and provided eight assists in 33 appearances last season.

Danny Welbeck

The former United striker has been heavily linked with Chelsea. Former United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged the club to hijack the transfer and bring Welbeck back to Old Trafford. Welbeck left United in 2014 and has since played for Arsenal, Watford, and Brighton. Last season he scored 14 goals and provided two assists in 40 appearances. The Athletic reports that United have previously held conversations about re-signing him.

Dusan Vlahovic

The Serbian striker is available on a free transfer after four-and-a-half seasons with Juventus. Despite being 26, he has been linked with United before. Injury disrupted his last season, but he still managed 10 goals and two assists in 23 appearances. He is reportedly holding out for Barcelona.

Ollie Watkins

If United want a Premier League-proven striker, Ollie Watkins is an option. The 30-year-old has scored 91 goals and provided 39 assists in 221 league appearances. His performances for Aston Villa earned him a place in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the World Cup. United have been linked with an interest. Villa are unlikely to let him go cheaply after selling Morgan Rogers.

Jamie Vardy

Jamie Vardy is available on a free transfer after leaving Italian side Cremonese. The 39-year-old has hinted at returning to England. In 342 Premier League appearances, he has 145 goals and 50 assists. Last season he scored seven goals and provided three assists in 29 Serie A games.
