Chelsea set sights on Welbeck
Chelsea are poised to make a move for Brighton striker Danny Welbeck, as new manager Xabi Alonso looks to bolster his attack with an experienced Premier League forward. The 35-year-old has just 12 months left on his contract with the Seagulls.
Blues' spending spree continues
The Blues have already been active in the transfer market this summer, making Morgan Rogers the most expensive British footballer ever in a £117million deal. They have also agreed a deal worth over £52m for Crystal Palace's Maxence Lacroix, and their spending is expected to continue.
According to reports, Welbeck is on Chelsea's radar after scoring 13 times in 37 Premier League appearances last season. Brighton are aware of the interest, with Alonso keen on the former Manchester United and Arsenal star, whose leadership qualities would be a boost to the squad.
