Hajduk Split boss Gonzalez Garcia has confirmed Celtic target Niko Sigur has played his last game for the club. The Canadian international has been linked with a move to the Hoops since before the World Cup.
Celtic face competition from Belgian side Genk, who made a £3.5 million bid for the 22-year-old this week, and from former Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou's Toulouse side, who reportedly made a £2.5 million offer too, amid reports the player is keen to join Celtic.
Emotional dressing room farewell
Sigur helped the Croatian side to an extra time win over Rakow Czestochowa in the Europa Conference League play-off this week. And in the midst of wild celebrations, Garcia revealed an unseen moment between the pair as he confirmed he's likely to leave imminently, along with Rokas Pukstas, who is set to sign for Middlesbrough.
He said: "We cried together in the dressing room with Niko Sigur. This is the best way for someone to leave. He was very emotional, along with Rokas Pukstas, because they are both probably leaving."
Inspirational talk before extra time
Garcia added: "Niko gave an inspirational talk to his teammates before the start of extra time too. I'm proud of how he and Rokas fought for the team."
"This team has heart, they live under constant high pressure, they are young guys and they deserve a lot of credit. Sigur and Pukstas showed the spirit of our dressing room."
