Arsenal and Manchester United are set to make offers for Brighton star Jack Hinshelwood in the coming days, according to reports. The 21-year-old midfielder has emerged as one of the Premier League's most promising young players since his debut in 2023.
Rapid Rise at Brighton
Hinshelwood, primarily a defensive midfielder, recorded eight goal contributions in 27 league appearances last season, helping Brighton qualify for the UEFA Conference League. He has earned 11 caps for England U21s and played a key role in Lee Carsley's side that won the U21 Euros in 2025.
Manchester United have long admired Hinshelwood and are known to want a third midfielder this summer following the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. Manchester City are also said to be interested, though he does not appear to be a priority signing as the club works on a deal for World Cup star Ayyoub Bouaddi.
Arsenal Lead the Race
Arsenal are now leading the race for his signature, with the Premier League champions making direct contact with Hinshelwood's representatives. Mikel Arteta is said to be a big fan of Hinshelwood's versatility, as the midfielder can also play in a more advanced role and at right-back. The Gunners are looking to bring in a right-sided defender given injury concerns surrounding Jurrien Timber, Ben White and William Saliba. A new midfielder may also be required, as while Bruno Guimaraes has signed from Newcastle, there is a chance both Martin Zubimendi and Ethan Nwaneri could leave before deadline day.
According to The Sun, Arsenal and United will make enquiries into Hinshelwood's availability, with an offer in the region of £43million to £51m believed to be enough to get a deal done.
Brighton's Stance
Brighton do not wish to lose their star youngster, who has three years left on his current contract, especially in a season where they will be playing in European competition. The Seagulls face Norwegian side Tromso in their Conference League play-off over the next two weeks. It is not known whether Hinshelwood is keen on leaving the Amex, though he has a strong affinity for Brighton, as his father Adam made over 100 appearances for the club.
