Carlos Sainz has been handed a five-place grid penalty for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after failing to slow down sufficiently under yellow flags, reshuffling the starting order in Baku.
The Williams driver qualified ninth for the first time this season but will now start 14th. Franco Colapinto moves up to ninth and Oliver Bearman takes 10th as a result of the sanction.
Russell on pole as Antonelli starts 16th
George Russell begins the race from pole position and will look to reduce Kimi Antonelli's 81-point lead in the Drivers' Championship. Antonelli, who crashed out in Q1 after what was described as a 'very unnecessary mistake', starts 16th.
Only seven races remain after this weekend, leaving Russell with limited time to keep his title hopes alive. Lewis Hamilton, third in the standings, has conceded defeat to Mercedes but wants Ferrari to close the 145-point gap in the Constructors' Championship, a title the Scuderia last won in 2008.
