Manchester United remain hopeful of signing Myles Lewis-Skelly, with Arsenal now ready to sanction the exit of the versatile Englishman under one condition.
The Red Devils have looked to strengthen in midfield and at left-back, two roles the 19-year-old is accomplished in, while also being close to signing Carlos Baleba from Brighton for £70million.
Arsenal's stance on Lewis-Skelly
According to The Sun, Arsenal are prepared to sell the teenager if a club meets their valuation, which is north of £50m. It had been thought that Lewis-Skelly was not for sale at the Emirates, but recent developments suggest otherwise, with just over a week left of the summer transfer window.
The door appeared to be left open when Arsenal brought in Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle, potentially harming Lewis-Skelly's pursuit of a starting spot under Mikel Arteta. However, he was handed a boost when given the starting role alongside Declan Rice for Friday's 3-0 win over Coventry City, though his Brazilian rival had picked up an injury that ruled him out of the season-opener.
Manchester United's left-back search
United want a new left-back, having previously been told that Lewis Hall is not for sale at Newcastle, but consider Arsenal's asking price too expensive. Luke Shaw is the current starter for United, but he is into his 13th year at the club and has just one more season left on his contract.
Patrick Dorgu, who started the defeat to Hull in an advanced role, and youngster Harry Amass, are also options in that role. Lewis-Skelly also started and grabbed an assist in the Community Shield triumph over Manchester City.
