Arsenal have received a boost in their efforts to sign Victor Osimhen, with the striker reportedly discussed during talks between the Gunners and Galatasaray. The Nigerian international has been a long-term target for the north London club, who are looking to bolster their attacking options this summer.
Talks with Galatasaray
According to The Telegraph, Osimhen was raised in discussions between Arsenal and the Turkish club, who are interested in Gunners duo Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri. The 27-year-old has been with Galatasaray since initially joining on loan from Napoli in 2024, scoring 59 goals in 74 games across two seasons.
Osimhen has yet to play in the Premier League, but he has previously expressed a desire to feature in England's top flight. Speaking in 2023 during his time at Napoli, he said: "I think playing in one of the top five leagues in the world is an amazing feeling for me. A lot of people worldwide consider the Premier League as the best and the strongest league but now I'm in one of the best leagues in the world, which is the Italian Serie A."
Osimhen's Premier League ambition
Arsenal could be encouraged by Osimhen's wish to play in the Premier League. The Telegraph reports that the Gunners have a long-standing interest in the Galatasaray star, though he has been below Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez in their list of targets.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray permanently for around £64million last summer. He has won back-to-back Super Lig titles during his time in Turkey, ending the most recent campaign with 22 goals in 33 games across all competitions.
Galatasaray's interest in Arsenal players
Meanwhile, Galatasaray have reportedly made a £38m offer for Martinelli, who scored just one league goal in Arsenal's title-winning season. The 25-year-old is in the last year of his contract and faces fresh competition on the left flank from new signing Christos Tzolis, while the Gunners also targeted a high-profile move for Vinicius Junior.
Nwaneri spent the second half of last season on loan with Marseille after struggling to earn regular minutes, with captain Martin Odegaard ahead of the 19-year-old in attacking midfield. Nwaneri scored on his Marseille debut but saw his prospects hampered by a managerial change, limiting the teenager to 11 appearances for the French club.
