Arsenal could be heading for another transfer battle with Real Madrid over Martin Zubimendi, whose future at the Emirates has been cast into doubt by the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes. The La Liga giants are reportedly considering a move for the Spanish midfielder, with a price tag of at least £77m mentioned.
Zubimendi's uncertain situation
Zubimendi joined Arsenal from Real Sociedad last summer and was part of Spain's World Cup-winning squad. However, Guimaraes' arrival over the weekend has increased competition for a midfield spot alongside Declan Rice, with Mikel Merino also vying for a consistent place.
Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claims that Real Madrid could look to exploit Zubimendi's "uncertain" situation at Arsenal following the Guimaraes acquisition. The La Liga heavyweights seem destined to miss out on Manchester City's Rodri and may shift their attention to the Gunners' midfielder.
Martinelli's future
Arsenal have made their position on Gabriel Martinelli clear after receiving an enquiry from Galatasaray for the Brazilian attacker. The 25-year-old scored 11 goals across all competitions last season but managed just one in the Premier League.
According to football.london, Martinelli remains firmly in Arteta's thinking. However, the club's pursuit of Vinicius Junior has put rival clubs on alert regarding his potential availability. The Gunners are unlikely to green-light his move to the Turkish outfit while they are still on the hunt for a headline signing, but such a signing could pave the way for an exit.
