Arsenal Eye £61m Bahoya as Total Spending Could Exceed £300m

Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya, with a potential summer move that could push the club's total spending beyond £300 million. The 20-year-old France Under-21 international has caught the attention of the north London club, who have already expressed their interest to the Bundesliga side, according to Sky Sports Germany.

Bahoya, who joined Frankfurt from Angers for €8 million (£7 million) in 2024, has made 59 appearances for the club, scoring six goals and providing five assists. A right-footed left-winger, he is seen as a long-term prospect capable of adding depth to Arsenal's attack, which currently features Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Eberechi Eze competing for the left-wing slot.

The Gunners spent £256.6 million on new arrivals in the summer, and a deal for Bahoya, valued at €70 million (£61.2 million), would take total spending above £300 million. However, any move is expected to be completed in the summer rather than the January window, allowing the club to push the deal onto next season's accounting books.

Arsenal's transfer strategy appears to be shifting towards future-focused signings, as evidenced by recent deals for 16-year-old Ecuadorian twins Edwin and Holger Quintero from Independiente Del Valle, and a pre-agreement for Shamrock Rovers' Victor Ozhianvuna. These moves align with sporting director Andrea Berta's priority of ensuring long-term squad sustainability.
