Aberdeen are unlikely to follow up their interest in Killian Phillips in this window unless St Mirren significantly drop their £500,000 asking price. Record Sport understands that the Dons made an enquiry several weeks ago and nothing has progressed since then.
Aberdeen asked how much it would take and when the Buddies informed them that they would be looking for a deal in excess of £500,000, then it was left at that. The Dons would be prepared to pay a fee with add-ons but not at the level St Mirren are currently looking for.
Other interested clubs
Belgian club Kortrijk has also recently enquired about the Republic of Ireland international. Phillips also has strong interest from Germany, Major League Soccer and England.
The player is going into the final year of his contract and could sign a pre-contract to leave Paisley for free in January. If he is still available at that point then it is likely Dons boss Stephen Robinson would definitely throw his hat in the ring at that stage.
Robinson's admiration for Phillips
Robinson is a big fan of the midfielder. He signed him for St Mirren from Crystal Palace back in 2025, ironically after he had an indifferent spell on loan at Aberdeen the year earlier. Phillips struggled at Aberdeen but has matured into a full international and a proven Premiership player in recent seasons. He also helped St Mirren win last season's Premier Sports Cup under Robinson.
Phillips, who saw St Mirren trigger a club extension for this season, is relaxed about the situation and has a number of options open to him over the coming weeks and months.
Agent's comments
Phillips' agent Raymond Sparkes said: “When Killian signed a contract at St Mirren it was heavily weighted towards the club. That was at a time when Killian was keen to make the move to St Mirren and to play for Stephen Robinson.
“Killian is under contract to St Mirren and that is where it stands just now. We will see if anything happens over the next nine days before the close of the window. If not, then Killian has the option of looking at pre-contract options in about 20 weeks' time.”
Aberdeen are looking at possible midfield options with Brad Lyons currently out injured.
