Wolves were forced to stop their training session on Monday after a bizarre incident that saw a star refuse to leave the pitch.
The former Premier League outfit were preparing for their new season in the second tier when striker Tolu Arokodare refused to vacate the pitch. Additional security was then brought in the next day to prevent the 25-year-old from returning to the club's training facility.
Incident Details
Arokodare, who netted merely six goals in 38 outings, was amongst the squad accountable for Wolves' woeful campaign and had been touted for a potential departure. And the incident occurred when he was told not to train alongside the remainder of the squad.
The Wolves Poddy report that after training was called off Wolves bolstered security at Compton Park to prevent the former Genk ace from gaining access.
Impact and Future
Arokodare will be absent when Wolves take on non-league side Maidenhead United in a pre-season fixture on Wednesday evening. Serie A clubs including Genoa and Fiorentina are keen on acquiring Arokodare's services.
The decision to exclude Arokodare from training is seen as a demonstration of authority by Peixoto, who's been charged with guiding Wolves back to the Premier League - and he made his expectations crystal clear in his maiden interview.
"Firstly, I'm a very demanding coach," the former Gil Vicente chief said. "But, I believe in giving others maximum freedom and maximum responsibility. I want us to work as a team and as a unit and build a good environment."
"This is important to me, but I know very well what I want from the team. I want my team to be organised with and without the ball..."
"Secondly, I want a team with intensity and to be aggressive and win duels. The third one is I want to show the quality of the players. To play an offensive game and to try and press high."
"To try and be the main character of the games. I want to win games, but I want to win while playing good football. With passion and energy... [The supporters can expect] a team with ambition. A strong character and identity and a strong idea of the game."
