Newcastle Fan Zone Draws Thousands for England World Cup Opener
Thousands Gather in Newcastle for England World Cup Match

Thousands of fans have converged on Newcastle's Times Square, where a dedicated fan zone with a giant screen has been set up for the World Cup. The first match sees England face Croatia in their Group L opener, kicking off at 9pm British time at the Dallas Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

England's World Cup Campaign

England's group stage includes further matches against Ghana on Tuesday, June 23, and Panama on Saturday, June 27. Among the England squad are Newcastle United players Dan Burn and Tino Livramento, as well as former Magpie Anthony Gordon, who recently joined Barcelona.

Fan Zone Atmosphere

Up to 2,000 people are expected to gather in the fan zone, which has been transformed into a sea of England flags, bucket hats, and painted faces. Supporters are in high spirits, with chanting and singing filling the air. The atmosphere is electric as fans come together to cheer on their team.
