Jannik Sinner could tempt former Roger Federer coach Ivan Ljubicic back to tennis, with the Croatian admitting he would love to coach the Wimbledon champion. Ljubicic, who worked with Federer for seven years, has been impressed by Sinner's recent form, particularly after his Wimbledon victory over Carlos Alcaraz.
Speaking to Swiss publication Tages Anzeiger, Ljubicic said: 'I have a job with the French FA that keeps me busy, but when a player like Sinner knocks on your door, you have to at least consider it, just like with Roger Federer. Sinner, Alcaraz... there are some players who give me goosebumps. At some point, I'll return to coaching a player, but I don't know when.'
Sinner's current coach Darren Cahill is set to step down at the end of 2025, opening the door for a potential reunion with Ljubicic. The 46-year-old has been keeping a close eye on the emerging rivalry between Sinner and Alcaraz, which he believes will only intensify.
Ljubicic also reflected on the French Open final between the two, calling it 'a very, very, very good final' but dismissing comparisons to the Big Three era. 'We still haven't seen the best of Alcaraz and Sinner; they still have plenty of room for improvement,' he added.
