Nick Woltemade has been valued at around £74million this summer, as his future with Newcastle United hangs in the balance.
The German striker arrived at St. James' Park last summer in a £69m move from VfB Stuttgart, with big expectations placed on his shoulders.
While Woltemade enjoyed a bright start to the season, he started to show inconsistency the further the campaign went on, finishing with a tally of just eight goals in 33 appearances.
Mixed debut campaign
That ultimately could have been in-part due to Eddie Howe utilising the 6ft6' target man as an attacking midfielder for parts of 2025/26, instead of depending on good delivery from the likes of Anthony Gordon and Anthony Elanga.
As a result of a mixed-bag first term, the 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from Tyneside either on a permanent or temporary basis, with Leipziger Volkszeitung claiming that he hopes to return to the Bundesliga should he depart.
Valuation details
However, the Magpies are set for a hefty windfall in the event that they do choose to sell Woltemade, with the CIES Football Observatory valuing him at around £74m at present.
The experts take into account a range of 7.5% above and below a player's value, as well as the financial capacity of a most-likely suitor.
CIES also factor in 100% of economic rights, including add-ons, and at the same level of inflation from the past two transfer windows. However, they do not consider eventual buy-out clauses.
Potential asking price
All things considered, it means that Newcastle United could ask for a minimum of £74m for their target man this summer, should they ultimately choose to let him leave.
It comes as the Magpies are gearing up for their Premier League curtain-raiser against Liverpool on Sunday on home soil - Alexander Isak expected to see a frosty reception in the aftermath of his departure from the club around 12 months ago.
The last time the two clubs met on Tyneside, Isak was still technically at the club, albeit, dissociated with Howe's first-team as a result of pushing for a move to Anfield.
Liverpool ran out 3-2 winners in that clash, with Ryan Gravenberch, Hugo Ekitike and Rio Ngumoha outscoring Bruno Guimaraes and Will Osula. Under the stewardship of Matthias Jaissle, and with potentially Woltemade or Yoane Wissa leading the line this weekend, the Magpies will hope for a better outcome.
