Max Dowman Wins Arsenal Goal of Season After Premier League Record
Max Dowman Wins Arsenal Goal of Season Award

Arsenal wonderkid Max Dowman has added another accolade to his collection, winning the club's Emirates goal of the season award for his stunning solo strike against Everton.

Historic Goal

The 16-year-old became the youngest scorer in Premier League history when he came off the bench to seal a crucial victory over the Toffees in March. Dowman collected the ball deep in his own half after an Everton corner was cleared, knocked it past Vitaliy Mykolenko, skipped inside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and ran clear to finish into an empty net.

That goal, coming deep in stoppage time, moved Arsenal nine points clear of Manchester City at the time and was voted by supporters as the best goal scored on home soil this season.

Voting Results

Dowman secured 38% of the votes, comfortably ahead of Martin Zubimendi in second place. The Spaniard's volley against Nottingham Forest in September earned him 17% of the ballot. Leah Williamson finished third with 11% for her header against Leicester City.

Growing Trophy Cabinet

The goal of the season award is the latest addition to Dowman's rapidly expanding collection. The teenager previously won the Premier League homegrown debutant of the season award for his breakthrough campaign with the Gunners. He has also been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award, which will be presented at a ceremony in August.

Nico O'Reilly is considered the favorite for that honor, with Rayan Cherki, Junior Kroupi, Kobbie Mainoo, and Rio Ngumoha completing the shortlist.

PFA Player of the Year

Arsenal dominate the main PFA Player of the Year shortlist, with Declan Rice, Gabriel, and David Raya all in contention. They face competition from Erling Haaland, Bruno Fernandes, and Cherki.
