Man Utd 2026/27 Fixtures: Carrick Gets Dream Start

Manchester United have been handed a favourable start to the 2026/27 Premier League season as Michael Carrick takes permanent charge at Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick's first match as permanent Manchester United manager will see him face newly-promoted Hull City away from home in the lunchtime kick-off. The fixtures for the 2026/27 Premier League season were released this morning and United have been given a favourable-looking start.

Carrick was handed a two-year contract last month after a terrific stint in interim charge, guiding United to a third-placed finish and Champions League qualification with 11 wins in 16 matches. No club picked up more points than United's 36 after Carrick's appointment on January 13. And the 44-year-old has learned the schedule his team face in his first full campaign.

After starting against Hull at the MKM Stadium, the Red Devils' first home game comes a week later against another promoted team, Ipswich Town, at Old Trafford. An exciting start sees them travel to Everton after that before hosting neighbours Man City in the first Manchester derby of the season on September 12.

That first derby will come just days after United's first Champions League match since December 2023. Other notable dates in the Premier League calendar see them face arch rivals Liverpool at Anfield on November 21 and defending champions Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on December 21. United host Liverpool on January 23 and Arsenal on February 27 in the return fixtures.

Carrick's charges face Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Boxing Day and Sunderland at home four days later. They travel to Brighton in their first match of 2027. Their run-in sees them take on Coventry and Bournemouth away from home, Leeds United at home, Tottenham away and Fulham at home all in the month of May. All dates after the first match are subject to change due to TV picks.
