Liverpool have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over the sale of Bradley Barcola, securing the winger for £123m — £22m less than PSG's initial asking price. A medical is expected within the next 24 hours.
Deal structure and background
The Reds have tracked the 23-year-old for most of the summer, despite PSG's initial stance that the player was not for sale, having placed a £145m price tag on him. Following the arrivals of Maghnes Akliouche, Mika Godts, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue, Les Parisiens have now decided to cash in on Barcola.
The £123m agreement is made up of a guaranteed £106m plus £17m in add-ons, according to The Athletic.
Why Liverpool moved for Barcola
The move follows Liverpool's 2-2 draw against Newcastle United at St James' Park in their opening Premier League match, where they struggled to unlock the opposition defence. Barcola recorded 11 goals and two assists in Ligue 1 last season and impressed for France at the World Cup this summer.
Further transfer activity at Anfield
Liverpool are also pursuing other targets as the summer window draws to a close. The club have agreed a five-year contract with Crystal Palace attacking-midfielder Ismaila Sarr, with discussions now expected after the Eagles turned down an initial offer of approximately £51m for the 28-year-old.
Liverpool are also weighing up a potential move for Monaco's Lamine Camara. Monaco are believed to be open to selling the 22-year-old midfielder before Tuesday's transfer deadline, though only at the correct valuation.
Potential exits
With Barcola expected to feature regularly on the left flank, Cody Gakpo may leave Anfield. The 27-year-old attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, with Spurs still understood to be pursuing the Dutchman despite the recent arrivals of Savio and Omar Marmoush. Personal terms with Gakpo have been settled since July.
Harvey Elliott has reportedly reached agreement on personal terms with Valencia. Negotiations between Liverpool and the Spanish side continue as they work to complete a loan arrangement before the transfer deadline. The 23-year-old was omitted from Liverpool's matchday squad for their trip to Newcastle last weekend.
