Everton have completed five first-team signings this summer, with Brennan Johnson the latest arrival in a swap deal that saw Dwight McNeil move to Crystal Palace. Both players made their debuts against their former club on Saturday.
Johnson follows the arrivals of Christian Norgaard (£7m, from Arsenal) and Hayden Hackney (initial £18m, from Middlesbrough) as new faces in the squad. Merlin Rohl (£18m, from Freiburg) and Tyrique George (£16.5m, from Chelsea) have also made their loan moves permanent.
Academy additions and outgoings
In the academy, Everton have strengthened their U18s by signing forward Kai Hutchison from Dundee, left-back Tom McDermott from Chelsea, and midfielder Arthur Barratt, also from Chelsea.
Among the outgoings, Dwight McNeil moved to Crystal Palace in the Johnson deal. Several players have left due to contract expiration, including Seamus Coleman, Idrissa Gueye (who has joined Diriyah), and Reece Welch (who has joined Bradford City).
Further exits and loan market watch
Tyler Onyango has joined Sheffield Wednesday, Roman Dixon has moved to Walsall, Frankie Okoronkwo has signed for Doncaster Rovers, and Bradley Moonan has joined Lancaster City. Ademide Akarakiri has joined Cagliari, Goodness Gospel-Eze has moved to Stockport County, and Kean Wren has signed for Derby County.
Jacob Beaumont-Clark, Kingsford Boakye, Louis Poland, and Charlie Stewart have also departed. All outgoings were due to contract expiration with the exception of Dwight McNeil.
With the transfer window closing next week, Everton remain hopeful of finding a right-back, and further arrivals could depend on exits. Carlos Alcaraz, Tim Iroegbunam, Nathan Patterson, and Beto are among those in the last year of their contracts. The loan market is also one to watch, with academy players like Braiden Graham and Jack Patterson attracting interest and potentially heading out for senior experience.
