The 17-year-old striker Dastan Satpayev is already making waves on Chelsea's pre-season tour, even though his official transfer does not take effect until next month.
Satpayev has attracted significant attention since the Blues arrived in Australia last week, with many Kazakhstan flags and FC Kairat shirts visible among the 5,000-plus fans at Chelsea's open training session at Allianz Stadium on Sunday.
Special Dispensation
Chelsea agreed a deal for Satpayev worth around £3.3million plus add-ons in February 2025, but he will not officially become a Chelsea player until he turns 18 on August 12. To include him in the 28-man travelling squad for the tour of Australia and Asia, the club sought and received special dispensation from FC Kairat.
As a result, Satpayev's five-year contract, which includes an optional 12-month extension, may not start until August, but he is eligible to play in all of Chelsea's pre-season friendlies.
Tour Schedule
Chelsea begin their tour on Tuesday against Western Sydney Wanderers, followed by a match against Tottenham in the Sydney Super Cup on Saturday. They then face Juventus in Hong Kong, AC Milan in Indonesia, and conclude the tour against Malaysian champions Johor Darul Ta'zim at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Johor.
With several key Chelsea players still on extended leave after the World Cup, Satpayev hopes to earn minutes on the pitch and demonstrate his abilities to his new club.
