Danny Rohl 'Couldn't Wait to Jump Ship' in Rangers Exit Claim
Danny Rohl 'Couldn't Wait to Jump Ship' in Rangers Exit

Departing Rangers boss Danny Rohl 'couldn't wait to jump ship' as he closes in on becoming Red Bull Salzburg's new manager, according to a blockbuster claim.

The claim emerged amid a withering defence of Russell Martin's rotten Rangers record. Derek McInnes will succeed Rohl on a three-year deal, with Rohl returning under the Red Bull umbrella.

TalkSPORT's Alex Crook insists the 37-year-old German wanted out despite chairman Andrew Cavenagh publicly backing Rohl after Rangers' botched pursuit of the Premiership title, which followed four consecutive defeats after the split.

But in spite of the chairman's support, murmurings over a potential parting of the ways continued before Red Bull made their move. Crook's praise of Martin also called out the Rangers squad's make-up, branding it 'terrible', and intimated Rohl's desire to get out.

Posting on X, Crook said: 'Russell Martin is a terrific appointment for Leicester. He did a brilliant job taking Southampton into the top league but given no resource to keep them there. Not perfect at Rangers, squad was terrible as Danny Rohl also found and couldn't wait to jump ship. Will be good to watch.'
