Celtic will kick off their Premiership title defence on a Monday night under the lights at home to Dundee. Martin O'Neill's Double-winners defied the odds last season with a stunning seven-game winning streak to beat Hearts to the league championship in a dramatic finale. It was one of the most historic seasons in the club's history as the Hoops were crowned Kings of Scotland for a record-breaking 56th time.
Now, the champions are going for 57 and six-in-a-row as they begin their quest on Monday, August 3 for a 7:30pm kick-off that will be screened live on Sky Sports. The unusual flag day slot is due to the Commonwealth Games events taking place over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday across the road at the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome. Chart-topping DJ Calvin Harris is also set to play two sold-out shows at Hampden Park throughout the same weekend, meaning Police Scotland and stewarding resources will be thin.
The first Glasgow derby of the season will come at Parkhead on Sunday, September 20 before the Bhoys travel to Ibrox on January 2. Celtic will then host Rangers again on Saturday February 27, the final derby before the split. Meanwhile the Hoops' first collision with runners-up Hearts will come in Glasgow on Saturday October 17 ahead of the visit to Tynecastle on November 28. The Jambos - who lost Derek McInnes and Lawrence Shankland to Rangers - then return to Celtic Park on Saturday, February 27. All fixtures not yet picked by Sky Sports or Premier Sports are subject TV selections.
