Stefan Schwarz has warned Arsenal that their hopes of signing any Paris Saint-Germain players this summer are slim, with the Ligue 1 giants unwilling to strengthen a Champions League rival. The warning comes after Arsenal's impressive 2025/26 season, where they won their first Premier League title since 2004 under Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal's Strong Season Ends in Heartbreak
The north London club also reached the FA Cup quarter-finals, losing 2-1 to Southampton, and the EFL Cup final, where they fell 2-0 to Manchester City. In Europe, Arsenal progressed to the Champions League final in May, where they faced PSG. Despite dominating the match, they lost 4-3 on penalties at the Puskas Arena.
Schwarz, speaking to Mirror Football via Casino Groups, noted that Arsenal's solid defence won them the league. He said: "That's why Arsenal won the league, they were solid in defence and a good goalkeeper as well. A fantastic goalkeeper. They give you confidence and trust as defenders." However, he suggested the attack needs improvement: "I believe Arsenal could be more threatening when they attack more clinically."
PSG's Reluctance to Sell
When asked about specific targets, Schwarz replied: "There are some - some play in PSG, if we talk. But I don't think they will sell to a rival who competes for Champions League titles." Arsenal are among clubs linked with PSG winger Bradley Barcola, but reports indicate PSG have placed a £116 million price tag on the 23-year-old and have made it clear he is not available.
Arsenal scouts reportedly watched Barcola shine for France against Sweden at the World Cup, but any deal appears unlikely. Schwarz added: "We need to bring in some with striking power, clinical finishing to get another level. You always need to improve, even as a champion."
