Woman Flashes Bum and Twerks on TV at Commonwealth Games

An unexpected moment stole the spotlight during the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham when a rugby sevens spectator ended up on screen with her underwear exposed.

The woman was part of a group of three fans celebrating South Africa's win over Fiji. She took a gulp from her drink, then noticed the BBC camera on them. After the trio cheered, she turned her back to the broadcast and began to twerk. She then bent over, showing viewers her backside covered only by underwear.

Commentator's remark

A BBC commentator noted that there was "plenty of dancing" in the crowd before the camera moved to another part of the stadium. South Africa took gold at the 2022 Games, beating Fiji 31-7.

Rugby sevens absent from 2026 programme

Rugby sevens is one of nine sports not included at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Glasgow. The event was originally assigned to the Australian state of Victoria, but the state withdrew three years ago because of rising hosting costs, and Glasgow stepped in.

Birmingham 2022 featured 19 sports. The Glasgow programme has just 10, with six of them including adjoining para-sports.

The 2026 sports

The events taking place in Glasgow are:

  • Artistic gymnastics
  • 3x3 basketball and wheelchair basketball
  • Athletics and para athletics (track and field)
  • Boxing
  • Bowls and para bowls
  • Netball
  • Judo
  • Cycling track and para cycling track
  • Weightlifting and para powerlifting
  • Swimming and para swimming

The nine sports dropped from the programme are squash, table tennis, triathlon, wrestling, beach volleyball, badminton, hockey, cricket and rugby sevens.

How to watch

The 2026 Commonwealth Games are being broadcast live on TNT Sports from July 23 to August 2. Viewers can watch on HBO Max or Prime Video's TNT Sports channel.
