Lloyd Brothers Shine on the Leeds Liverpool Canal

At the Liverpool & District Monday Night Series, the Lloyd brothers from Leigh once again made their mark. Both members of the Liverpool AS match squad, they enjoy canal fishing, especially on the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Regular visitors who frequently compete and win, the retired bait farm men relish challenging fellow match anglers in any competition available.

In this event, John took the top honors with a catch of 6.4.0, including a superb tench weighing 3.5lb. It was a difficult match for most participants, with Anthony securing second place with a couple of decent skimmers and roaches totaling 5.5.0. Anfield rod builder Andy Mantova took third place with a low weight of just 2.15.0, highlighting the challenging conditions.

Memorial Match Honoring Ray Pagan

The Liverpool & District AA Memorial Open Match on Saturday, June 13 will see many regulars on the canal honor the late Ray Pagan. Known as 'Pago,' he was a stalwart of the L&DAA, serving as past match secretary and a superb angler respected by all. Draw time is 9am at the Maghull Community Club, which will host the event. Pools are £25, with £5 going to Dementia UK. Fishing will run from 11am to 4pm, with lengths booked from the Saracens Head back to the Kings Arms.

Cain Takes Victory at Hall Lane Fishery

Catching up with commercial enthusiasts and the club scene out with the Alliance and Leicester on Sunday, after a disheartening unavoidable cancellation of a pre-booked match at Weston Pools in Shropshire, the club secretary made a superb judgment on late notice and arranged for members to visit Hall Lane Fishery in Parbold. Interestingly, the decision favored the secretary, Steve Cain, who took the winning honors. Cain steadily caught carp on corn throughout, adding a proper 'lump' of a carp late to his weight to secure the best points of the day. Phil Clegg took second place with 32.13.0, and John Watson third with 32.6.0.
