Celtic and Hearts have been adding players for both their domestic tasks as well as their European campaign, while Rangers have spent big on another squad to give Derek McInnes the chance to lift silverware. But there could still be some gaps that clubs are looking to fill.
Defensive options available
Conor Coady is on the look-out for a new club after ripping up his Wrexham contract this week. The England cap opted for a £2m move to Wales amid interest from Rangers last summer when leaving Leicester City, but could a move to Scotland now be on the cards? Coady spent six months of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic and has yet to feature in the Championship this term.
Tyrell Malacia is at a career crossroads after his ill-fated Manchester United stint came to an end. The 27-year-old spent an injury-plagued four years at Old Trafford with his contract now allowed to expire as he looks to jolt his career and reclaim a spot in the Dutch national team. He was previously linked with Celtic.
Midfield and attacking reinforcements
Tom Davies, still aged just 28, brought his three-year spell at Sheffield United to an end last summer after injury curtailed his season last term. His time at Bramall Lane was plagued by injury, but a switch north of the border could give the England U21 cap a career revival.
Ryan Kent has been without a club since leaving the Seattle Sounders in November 2025. The 29-year-old made the move to Fenerbahce in 2024 after his Ibrox contract, but saw his big-money contract ripped up just 16 months after leaving the Premiership behind.
Joe Aribo has a spot in Rangers history after netting in the Europa League Final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt, but he is now in need of a career lifeline. The 30-year-old brought the curtain down on his four-year stay at Southampton last summer after a disappointing six-month loan spell at Leicester City.
Greg Docherty made a surprise exit from The Valley as he left Charlton by mutual consent earlier this week. He led the club to promotion from League One in 2025 and was a key man last season, playing 90 times in the English second-tier. Aberdeen had enquired about the Scot earlier this summer.
Experienced strikers still on the market
Veteran Jamie Vardy spent last season with Cremonese after 13 years with Leicester City. Relegation to Serie B prompted the Italian side to let the striker go. At 39, a host of English clubs are said to be tracking the frontman.
Danny Ings, who spent last season at Sheffield United, looked set to join Leicester City earlier in the window before a move collapsed and left Ings in limbo. Hibs are considering a move for the free agent striker.
Matty Kennedy boasts a vast amount of SPFL experience having had two spells at Kilmarnock alongside time at Hibs, St Johnstone and Aberdeen. The 31-year-old is on the lookout for his next club, having last played at Rugby Park last term.
Kyle Vassell, the former Kilmarnock captain, was back in Scotland taking part in the PFA's player showcase this summer, having brought an end to his time in America with Colorado Springs Switchbacks. He is still available if top flight clubs want to snap up a striker with Premiership experience.
