The Great North 10k returned to Newcastle on Sunday with a record 13,000 runners taking part in the hugely popular event. Participants of all ages and abilities descended on the city centre to tackle a course that wound through Newcastle University campus, along Northumberland Street, past the Great North Museum, Grey's Monument, Old Eldon Square and across the Tyne Bridge, before finishing on Great North Road with celebrations in the Event Village on the Town Moor.
Winners and Times
Joseph Wilson crossed the finish line first in a time of 00:31:16, claiming the men's title. Kate Maltby was the first woman to finish, recording a time of 00:34:39. The event saw a diverse range of participants, from elite athletes to casual runners, all contributing to the vibrant atmosphere.
Community Celebration
Sir Brendan Foster, Founder & President of the Great Run Company, praised the event's success. "What an incredible day for Newcastle and for everyone who took part.
