England rounded off the international break with a 3-0 win over Czechia at Wembley, with Morgan Rogers at the heart of everything for Thomas Tuchel's side. The Chelsea summer signing from Aston Villa seemed to have the entirety of Wembley at his feet every time he received the ball.
Tuchel's key tactical decision
Rogers' freedom stemmed from one key decision from Tuchel, who deployed his attackers to play with confidence and freedom rather than a rigid system, allowing them to interchange and find space between defenders. It wasn't the rip-roaring performance many might have hoped for, after England put seven past Croatia over the weekend. However, when England needed to turn it on, they turned it on.
There was no moment of magic that broke the deadlock, instead, it was an own-goal as Vladimir Coufal turned the ball into his own net. Harry Kane doubled the lead just before half-time, and the Bayern Munich star grabbed his second shortly after half-time.
Full-backs push forward
Czechia were struggling to get out of their own half in what was a near-flawless performance from the Three Lions. And it was the type of front-footed performance that England fans wanted to see at the World Cup, and the one they will hope to see at the Euros. A lot can be put down to the full-backs, Lewis Hall and Trent Alexander-Arnold were not afraid to get forwards and test the opposition - of course, a major tournament is a world away from the Nations League, but it's a tantalising prospect nonetheless.
Fans react on social media
Fans, on social media, have already picked up on the switch: "Harry Kane has been at the centre of everything, but Tuchel deserves credit for changing his approach. This is a much more technical and entertaining England side, and right now they are absolutely flying."
"Trent and Hall didn't even make it on the plane to the World Cup," a second questioned. As a third shared: "Still can't believe Tuchel didn't bring Trent and Hall in the World Cup. So stupid!" And another added: "The more fluid, attacking football we play in games where it barely matters, the more f***** off I get with that utter disgrace of a last half hour against Argentina."
