In a devastating blow to fans and the competition alike, Strictly Come Dancing contestant La Voix has been forced to withdraw from this weekend's highly anticipated Blackpool special. The drag performer suffered an injury that has left them unable to compete in one of the show's most iconic episodes.
Devastating News for the Performer
La Voix described feeling 'devastated and heartbroken' after receiving medical advice requiring them to rest and focus on recovery. In an emotional statement, the performer expressed profound disappointment at missing the chance to dance in Blackpool's legendary Tower Ballroom.
'It is with immense sadness that I have to withdraw from this weekend's Strictly Come Dancing shows in Blackpool,' La Voix stated. 'Due to an injury, I've been advised that I'm unable to perform, and my heart truly breaks knowing I won't be dancing in such an iconic venue.'
Hard Work and Heartbreak
The performer revealed the extent of preparation that had gone into the Blackpool routine, highlighting the partnership with professional dancer Aljaž. 'Aljaž and I have worked incredibly hard, and we were so excited to share our routine with everyone,' La Voix explained.
Despite the personal disappointment, the injured contestant maintained a supportive stance toward the remaining competitors. 'I am devastated not to be joining the rest of the cast on that famous dancefloor, but my focus now is on recovery. I'll be cheering on all the amazing couples this weekend.'
Competition Continues with Special Arrangements
A Strictly Come Dancing spokesperson confirmed the situation, stating: 'Due to injury, La Voix has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance in this weekend's Blackpool specials.'
In accordance with the competition's rules, the pairing will receive special consideration. La Voix and Aljaž will receive a bye through to next week when producers hope they will be able to return to the dancefloor.
The show must go on, however, with six competing couples still set to take to the famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom floor this weekend. The Strictly spokesperson added their well-wishes, saying: 'We wish La Voix the very best for a speedy recovery.'
