Manchester United face Leeds in the Premier League today with Michael Carrick contending with a number of injury issues as he looks to secure a vital three points. Late fitness tests will be held on a couple of key players ahead of the match.
Mainoo and Shaw face late checks
Kobbie Mainoo did not travel with the squad for the game against Atletico. There will be a late check on his fitness today, with Carrick saying on Friday: "We'll see on Luke and Kobbie."
Luke Shaw is also set to be assessed today before a decision is made on whether he can play a part. The club decided against signing another left-back in the summer, and Shaw's fitness has been a concern in the opening months of the season.
Sesko and Dorgu ruled out
Benjamin Sesko is still suffering from a niggling shin injury picked up last season and will not play a part today. Carrick said on Friday: "Benjamin's kind of still undergoing a couple of checks, before we update on timelines or everything, we're just trying to be clear with what that looks like. He's still a little bit further away, but when we know a little bit more, we'll let you know."
Patrick Dorgu was taken off during Denmark's recent Nations League clash with Wales. "Patrick came off and looks like he'll be out for probably a number of weeks," Carrick said. His potential return date is late November or early December.
Mazraoui, Ugarte and Heaton sidelined
Noussair Mazraoui suffered a back injury while on international duty and was taken off during Morocco's victory over Lesotho. He has missed United's last two outings, with his return date unknown.
Manuel Ugarte picked up a serious knee injury at the World Cup and will definitely not feature this calendar year. If his rehabilitation goes to plan, he will hope to make an appearance in the final few months of the season, with a potential return date of 2027.
Tom Heaton suffered a hamstring injury before the start of the season and has not been named in a matchday squad this term. His return date is unknown.
