Jaissle confirms four Newcastle returnees, Jaouen out two months

Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle is hoping to welcome at least three stars back ahead of the Magpies' clash with Coventry City. Brazilian star Joelinton, Nico Gonzalez and Dan Burn are expected to return against the Sky Blues, with Lewis Miley also set to be available, but goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen has been ruled out for two months after a hamstring injury.

Jaouen sidelined after surgery

As Chronicle Live reported earlier this week, the French shot-stopper required surgery after suffering an injury with the French Under-21s. Club sources have suggested that Miley has shaken off a knock picked up on England Under-21 duty, while Burn stated he would be back after the international break.

Jaissle continued to keep his cards close to his chest with Amar Dedic, Tino Livramento, William Osula, Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey all still to return to the fray.

Jaissle's update on the squad

Jaissle said: "They returned but not everyone was in today. We allowed some of them an extra day so tomorrow they are fully back. We are generally pleased. Ewen was a difficult one with a hamstring injury and will be out for a couple of months."

"The injury situation I think you already get the updates. Ewen is a difficult one. He could be out for a couple of months. The rest should be OK. Joelinton, you saw (in open training), and he is progressing. He was partially involved there, and he is progressing and doing better and better. Three or four are also coming back. We have to be smart on load management."

Long break ahead of Coventry trip

The extended international break has resulted in Newcastle and their rivals facing an unprecedented gap in the fixture list. Newcastle head to Coventry aiming to build on their tally of eight points.

He said: "I will be actually happy on Monday when the referee is whistling again, and we can show emotions and good performance on the pitch. It was unusual, the long break, and we are happy that we start again. We already showed we can show a great reaction after a match (Leeds) that was not played in our way. We have had challenges already and we overcame that."
