Haaland injury: Man City return date, Maresca update, games he could miss

Erling Haaland limped off the Etihad pitch following Manchester City's 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town, appearing uncomfortable as he did so. The forward had taken a blow to the foot late in the game and seemed to be struggling.

Maresca's update after the win

City boss Enzo Maresca said he hopes Haaland has not suffered a serious injury. Asked about the forward after the match, Maresca said: “We will see. I asked him and he said he was OK, so hopefully it is nothing serious.”

Possible return and games he could miss

If Haaland has avoided a serious injury, he could be in action when City take on AEK Athens in the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, October 20. However, if he is set for a spell on the sidelines, he could miss that clash and next Saturday's trip to Aston Villa. City then face Brighton & Hove Albion in the League Cup and Premier League before the end of the month.

Next update and other injuries

City fans can expect an update on Haaland's fitness on Monday, when Maresca is set to speak to the media to preview the Champions League clash against AEK. Speaking after the win over Ipswich, Maresca also revealed that several other players had suffered knocks. He said: "Unfortunately in 10 minutes we had four of five players – Matheus [Nunes], Kova [Mateo Kovacic], Erling, Antoine [Semenyo] and Nico [O’Reilly] also – but they are inside now and we will see."
