Celtic winger Yang Hyun-jun has confirmed he is facing an injury layoff while on international duty with South Korea at the Asian Games in Japan.
The 24-year-old missed the quarter-final clash with Vietnam and has revealed he picked up a hamstring injury. He is aiming to be back for his country before returning to Glasgow's East End.
Yang's injury update
Yang said: "I have a minor injury to my hamstring. Right now, I am preparing with the goal of reaching the semifinals and the finals."
He added: "I was selected as a wild card, but since I haven't been in good physical condition recently and now I'm on top of that with an injury, I feel really sorry for my teammates. I also feel like I'm not being of any help."
"So I tried to be of even a little more help from the bench. I also check on their daily lives to see if they are experiencing any inconveniences, and I try to do whatever they need. The goal is a quick recovery."
Celtic's recent struggles
Yang has been missed by Celtic during his absence, with the Glasgow club suffering three defeats in a week, including two against rivals Rangers. He had netted twice in two games heading into the Premier Sports Cup clash at Ibrox.
Celtic boss Martin O'Neill is a big fan of the wide man and would have likely started the crucial run of games. Should the Irishman remain as boss at Parkhead, he could be without Yang for an extended period.
Asian Games ambitions
Yang has insisted Korea still have room for improvement if they are to win a fourth successive Asian Games. Should they triumph, he will receive an exemption from military duty.
He said: "We are fine when we play well, but I think we don't cover for it well when mistakes happen even while we are playing well."
"If we focus on that and improve a little more, I think we can show a good performance."
Hassan boost for Celtic
While there are doubts over Yang, there is good news on Haissem Hassan. Egypt boss Hassam Hassan claimed the £6million recruit was carrying a knock going into the clash with Angola.
But reports in his homeland claim the 24-year-old took part in training and responded to treatment - and was handed a surprise start for the game.
