Former Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson was taken to hospital after dislocating his hip in a pre-season friendly for Bromley against Millwall. The 33-year-old required oxygen and was stretchered off the pitch following the incident on Saturday.
Jenkinson sustained the injury in the 68th minute when he stretched his leg to challenge a Millwall winger but came off worse in the collision. He remained on the ground writhing in pain and waving to the bench for assistance before receiving gas and air.
Bromley provided an update during the match, stating: 'Carl Jenkinson is stretchered off following a lengthy spell receiving treatment on the pitch. We're all wishing you a speedy recovery, Jenko.' After the game, manager Andy Woodman confirmed the severity, saying: 'It looks like he's dislocated his hip. It's a tragedy. He's been a real bright player for us all pre-season.'
Jenkinson, who spent eight seasons at Arsenal and also played for West Ham, Nottingham Forest, and Charlton, joined Bromley last September. He extended his stay in April after making 13 appearances in his first season with the London club.
