Keith Andrews has dismissed suggestions of a crisis of confidence at Brentford after their winless run stretched to seven matches with a 2-1 defeat at Manchester United. The Bees sit ninth in the table, four points off the Champions League places, with four games remaining.
Matthias Jensen's stunning opener was cancelled out by goals from Casemiro and Benjamin Sesko at Old Trafford. Despite the defeat, Andrews praised his side's performance, insisting they showed 'personality' and 'belief' throughout the contest.
'I saw a lot of confidence tonight,' Andrews said. 'There is absolute belief in everything we do. We set up in a brave fashion against a top team and unfortunately we couldn't quite get there.'
Brentford face a daunting run-in against Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Liverpool. However, Andrews remains optimistic, highlighting the spirit in his squad despite being 'bitterly disappointed' to lose.
'We controlled nearly all of the second half. The belief and the courage we played with created opportunities,' he added. 'Anyone that watches us will see we are a team with a lot of spirit.'
