Arsenal are facing uncertainty over the fitness of centre-back Ezri Konsa after he withdrew from England's squad with a knock, with his availability for Saturday's Premier League clash against Leeds still unclear.
Konsa leaves England squad
England boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed on Monday that Konsa and Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott picked up injuries in the 7-0 rout of Croatia last weekend and would return to their clubs for further assessment.
Standard Sport understands that while Konsa's injury is not believed to be serious, it is as yet unclear whether he will be fit enough to play against Leeds this weekend.
Konsa, who started seven of England's eight games at the World Cup, has been steadily building his fitness since signing for Arsenal from Aston Villa this summer.
Injury concerns for Arsenal
The 28-year-old arrived in the England camp suffering from what Tuchel described as "discomfort", and Standard Sport understands he had been struggling with a dead leg before playing the full 90 against Croatia.
Konsa is believed to have suffered a recurrence of that issue against Croatia, and it was decided that he should leave the England squad as a precaution ahead of tonight's game against the Czech Republic. It had always been the case that Como centre-back Trevoh Chalobah would start in place of Konsa against the Czech Republic, so Konsa has returned early to Arsenal to help aid his recovery.
The extended international break has proved to be a frustrating one for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal. Christos Tzolis will not be available against Leeds on Saturday after suffering a hamstring injury while on international duty with Greece. While that issue is not as significant as it could have been, Tzolis is still expected to be out for about three weeks.
There is uncertainty over the fitness of Kai Havertz, who picked up a hamstring injury of his own in Germany's first match early in the international window. Havertz returned to Arsenal and tests have confirmed that the injury is not a serious one. However, no timeframe for his return has been provided and it remains to be seen whether he faces a spell on the sidelines.
Positive news at Colney
Martin Odegaard has been given some time off before he returns to Arsenal later this week. There were fears over an ankle issue after a poor challenge from Bernardo Silva when Norway faced Portugal, but Odegaard recovered from that and played the full 90 minutes in all four matches.
While Konsa, Havertz and Tzolis have provided Arsenal with concerns ahead of the resumption of club football, there has been more positive news at the Colney base. Ben White has been back in training and is expected to be available to face Leeds this weekend.
Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera have both been on the training pitch too and are closing in on returns from their respective injuries. Mosquera was the spare man travelling with the squad against Brighton before the international break, outlining his positive progress and was always likely to be back in contention against Leeds.
